Successful national and international projects managed and completed by Sarkans & Associates span a wide range of consulting services, from market studies and profitability improvement projects to equipment selection, plant design, on-demand printing systems, merger facilitation, appraisals and expert witness testimony. Many companies, ranging from Fortune 500 organizations to small businesses, rely on Mr. Sarkans for assistance in developing the business plans and strategies necessary to keep pace with the increasingly rapid changes in printing markets, processes and technologies. He is a frequent speaker at printing-related conferences and has written numerous articles for major trade books and magazines in Europe and the US. His professional credentials include a BS degree in Industrial Engineering and a Master's degree in Business and Engineering Administration from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. Mr. Sarkans served for several years as the Western Regional Director of IADT, the International Association for Document Technologies, and was a member of the IADT Board of Directors during 2002. He continues to serve on the Board of Directors of The Print Industry Research Foundation established by IADT. In 2001 IADT merged with DMIA (Document Management Industries Association. For his continued service to the Printing Industry, DMIA Board of Directors presented to Mr. Sarkans their prestigious Special Recognition Award at their 2001 annual Informservice Conference in Philadelphia. For many years Mr. Sarkans was contributing editor of Business Forms, Labels & Systems magazine (North American Publishing Company), and presently writes for Business Printing Technologies newsletter and Print Solutions magazine published by Document Management Industries Association (DMIA). He was also a contributing editor to Forms Mfg. and Papertronix magazines, published by International Business Forms Industries (IBFI), and various IADT publications. Research conducted by Mr. Sarkans provides the market projections defining the $20 billion business document printing industry, which includes forms and related segments of labels, commercial printing, direct mail, digital printing and promotional products. This annual research has been published since 1997 by Document Management Industries Association in their Formtrac Reports. In 2002, Mr. Sarkans completed an analysis of forms industry distributor sales trends based on survey data provided by DMIA, and the results have been published as a special Forms Industry report. In 1990, Mr. Sarkans published a 600 page technical reference manual on all types of forms production equipment. Many projects completed by Sarkans and Associates during the last five years have involved assistance to business document manufacturers and distributors seeking to enter new growth markets and broaden their product lines in printing specialties such as pressure-sensitive labels, on-demand digital printing, direct mail and other types of promotional printing.
